But he didn't
He never married
Never knew the joy of having children of his own
He left home a young man to serve his country
He lost his life fighting a war
Freedom is not free

ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to the true meaning of Memorial Day. The vintage photos are beautiful - a good reminder that others paid a very dear price for the freedom we often take for granted. Great post, Tonya!
ReplyDeleteI never knew. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA very lovely memorial day post. My brother has been in the Army (special forces) for 20+ years. Spent time overseas for the Gulf war, as well as in Afganistan and that area. Also spent time in S. America fighting the drug wars. Thank God he has always made it home to his wife and children.
